Finding the one.....

Finding "The One" is a highlight of wedding planning, but it can quickly become stressful when your dream dress isn’t the one your mom pictured for you. If you’re caught between your heart and your mom’s approval, here is how to navigate the dilemma:
1. Trust Your Instincts First
Ultimately, you are the one walking down the aisle and wearing the dress for ten-plus hours. If a gown makes you feel confident, beautiful, and like "yourself," that radiance will show in your photos and your demeanor. A bride who feels uncomfortable or "costumed" in a dress she chose just to please someone else rarely looks her best.
2. Evaluate the "Why"
Before dismissing her opinion, consider why she doesn't like it.

- Subjective Taste: If she just "doesn't like lace" or thinks it’s "too modern," remember that style is personal. You don't have to share the same aesthetic to look stunning.
- Practical Concerns: If she’s worried about the fit, the budget, or the venue appropriateness, she might be offering a helpful perspective you’ve overlooked in the excitement.
3. The Compromise: Keep Looking (Briefly)
If her disapproval is making you doubt your choice, try on three more dresses that bridge the gap between your styles. Sometimes, seeing a "middle ground" dress helps you realize that your original choice really is the best one—or it might lead you to a gown that gives you the "wow" feeling while making her smile, too.
4. Inclusion Beyond the Dress
If you decide to go with the dress she dislikes, involve her in other ways to soften the blow. Ask for her expertise on the veil, the jewellery, or the flowers. Remind her that while you’ve chosen a dress that reflects your personality, her support is the most important part of the day.
The Bottom Line
You shouldn’t settle for a dress you only "sort of" like just to keep the peace. However, if your mom’s opinion is so important to you that her disapproval will ruin your memory of the day, it is worth looking a little longer for a dress that hits the sweet spot for both of you.
